The architecture for "Fast Call for Help" is best suited for large organizations with internal IT departments, with network infrastructure that can support secure access from the internet into the corporate network. It documents the information needed to setup and configure a PC with Intel vPro technology to make a successful call to the corporate network. The SDK provides information for ISVs to enable their management application to listen for calls from vPro enabled gateways (also called Manageability Presence Servers) and to communicate with vPro clients out-of-band. The SDK contains sample software that emulates an MSP for testing and validating vPro communications.
Using environment detection, Intel AMT detects where the platform is inside or outside the enterprise. When a user initiates a Fast Call for Help here is what happens:
- If the platform is outside the enterprise, Intel AMT connects to an MPS and performs a Fast Call for Help remotely (also called Client Initiated Remote Access, or CIRA, Fast Call for Help). The event is generated by the MPS.
- If it is inside the enterprise, Intel AMT sends an event to a local subscribing console, without needing to connect to an MPS. This is a Client Initiated Local Access, or CILA, Fast Call for Help). The event is a WS-Eventing event generated by the platform.
The Remote Access feature is different from most other features in that the Intel AMT system acts as a client (and not a server) since it is requesting the service (from the MPS) and not providing it.
- Remote Access will not work if the Intel AMT system does not have a root certificate for the MPS server certificate.
- An Intel AMT platform that only supports NULL ciphers cannot connect to an MPS. Such a platform rejects attempts to define an MPS connection.
